I want to keep it!
Both my contacts have been made and I was thrilled to get to the yarn shop yesterday!
I hadn't even started knitting for my recipient-pal when I realized I already wanted to keep the scarf I'm going to be making for her. Why? The yarn is almost too delicious to give away. It's 100% baby alpaca and so soft. I hope she loves it, too.
As for pattern, I've been sampling stitch patterns from Barbara J. Walker's second treasury, but I haven't found that perfect one for this yarn yet. I'd better thumb through the book one more time before I give it another shot.

I love knitting with Misti Baby Alpaca! That stuff is just wonderful, and it retains a strangely pleasant alpaca smell. I made a really simple periwinkle/grey seed stitch scarf for myself last year and loved wearing it. I will warn you that it smushes down a lot with wear.
Thanks, Jodi. I'm going to try a stitch that has a little 3-D going on, so maybe it will take longer to smush. :)
I'm using Misti Alpaca too :) I plan to try out a cable scarf.
