Joni (unioncentreknits) - Questionnaire

1. Name & blogger handle: My name is Joni, and my Blogger id is unioncenterknits
3. Blog URL-: http://unioncenterknits.typepad.com
4. Country:- USA
6. Colours you like: - I love Brown, pink, orange, and even yellow…any or all of those mixed are great. I also like blue, and black.
7. Colours you hate: - I don’t hate any colors.
8. Fibres you like:- I like wool, and pretty much any natural fibers. I do not like polyester/nylon, fakey-feeling stuff, but I do like yarns that have those fakey-feeling fibers in them. Sometimes they are appropriate. (You couldn’t tear me away from my acrylic slippers, for instance.)
9 . Fibres you hate/allergies:- I don’t like the soy silk yarns I’ve felt, because they feel like polyester to me. Also, I’m allergic to soy as a food so I’ve always been wary of the yarn. My skin is sensitive, so a scratchy mohair is probably not a great idea but I don’t have a problem with the scratchiness of medium to fine grade wools.
10. Prefered scarf length: - At least 60 inches, I would think, to allow for wrapping around the neck and still hanging down nicely. However, it depends on the scarf. Some styles/patterns are better off short, some longer. I’ll suggest that if you try my scarf on and you feel the need to tug on it for it to look/feel right it’s probably not long enough. I’ve never met a scarf that was too long.
11. Solid or variegated?: - Good question! Whatever you want to do. And I’ll add in some fun here, by saying that I love the crazy antics of variegated yarns. Stripes, pooling, flashing, whatever the yarn wants to do is great IMO. I know some people don’t like these effects, so I thought I’d point out I’m not one of them. I don’t knit much in solids for myself because I tend to get bored, but I wear them happily enough.
12. Cables or lace or texture?: -Surprise me. Do something you’ll enjoy, or that is your “thing”, your signature style.
13. Miscellaneous info (including if you would like the chance to have a crocheted/woven scarf): I think I would prefer a knitted scarf, but I’m open to receiving something very nice in another technique. As another miscellaneous bit of info., If you (my partner) chose to send any extras with my scarf I have food allergies (dairy and soy) so it’s best not to send chocolate, etc.
