FIVE STAR Pal Award

I'd like to emphasise that this award is in no way meant to encourage you to be overly generous with material gifts in your parcels. In fact this award is a 'one-off' to reward people who were fab pals in ISE4 for any one of a few different reasons. I'd also like to reinforce that award is a special button for your blog and a mention on the ISE4 blog. ISE doesn't have the resources to give out physical things.

So remember that you can also nominate your pal if you saw that they spent a lot of TIME on their scarf or if they spent a lot of energy maintaining contact with you. They needn't have sent you a huge parcel of goodies to be eligible. I'd also like to invite you to nominate someone else's pal if you thought that there was someone who deserves a mention. Please feel free to nominate yourself if you put in a lot of effort and you're uncertain if your pal really appreciated you. Also, if you haven't received your parcel yet, you can nominate your pal whenever it arrives if you want to.

The overwhelming feeling that I get from participants is that the things they enjoy the most about this exchange are forming a connection with their pals through great communication and receiving a scarf that was thoughtfully knit for them. It should be all about generosity of spirit not $$.

The only things that would exclude a Pal from getting the FIVE STAR PAL award are: not having thanked their pal for their gift or not having played by the rules and posted to the group blog as required.

So having said all that, I'd like to give everyone who posted to the group blog, sent their scarves off to their pals on time, thanked their pal for their scarf and generally played nice, a beaming smile, a pat on the back and a GOLD STAR.

This is not the FIVE STAR PAL Award but it is the GOLD STAR Award that you all deserve for making this so much fun, making the blog such good reading and such a good resource for scarf knitters.

It's self policing. Don't give it to yourself if you know deep down that you don't deserve it. And you know the drill: save it to your own server and put it on your blog if you like.

Last scarf exchange was very busy. This time we are capping participation at 200 because that is the largest number we can manage to take care of properly.

It will be 'first in best dressed' so be quick.

Are you wondering about ISE 4???
Well here I am to tell you a few details.

Our founding hostesses, Celia and Cyn Cyn both have big new commitments this year and so all of us here at the International Scarf Exchange will have to do without them. Celia has a brand new baby boy and Cyn Cyn is up to her eyeballs in studies for her doctorate.

So there's going to be a new team. I helped out last year and thoroughly enjoyed the whole exchange so I'm taking over the reins for now. Keep your eye on this blog for announcements about dates and new team hostesses. You never know, there might even be a blog facelift just for fun.

The ISE blog and email address is staying the same (isehostesses at gmail dot com) so feel free to contact me there if you have any questions. Don't email for sign ups just yet. We will get to that in a week or two. Everyone has been removed from the blog now so this should help if you are planning a blogger upgrade.

Many belated thanks to Vik for this lovely scarf that arrived a couple of weeks ago. She combined 2 of my favorite colors (chocolate brown & turquoise) into a densely knit scarf that looks like it was woven instead of knit.

Thanks - if the weather "ever" returns to normal winter here in Chicago I know it will be used a lot. :)

Thanks to the hostesses for coordinating this fun exchange. When I signed up for it I didn't realize how work craziness this fall was going to impact my ability to participate - thanks for being patient.

An angel for Christmas!

My scarf finally arrived today thanks to Bettina who was my angel as my original pal let me down. The shawl is the swallowtail one from Interweave Knit Fall 2006. It is made of the softest alpaca in an aubergine colour. I love it! Thank you so much Bettina for being an angel!

A Package Worth the Wait

What did I find in my mailbox last night but my ISE3 package! It is from Bonnie in Costa Rica. Not only did she send me a great drop stitch scarf in some of my favorite colors, but she also included some Costa Rican coffee, a change purse, a pair of earrings handmade in Costa Rica, a yummy martini recipe and a skein of the yarn gone bad. Poor Bonnie had a mishap with this wonderfully soft alpaca when she was making my first scarf. However, I am just thrilled with this package and can't thank Bonnie enough. Thank you Bonnie!!!!

Realizing things are wrapping up here, I am very sorry to say that I have never received my scarf. My match and I have been in touch, and I was under the impression that the scarf was completed and in the mail, but it never reached me.

Before ISE3 closes, I wanted to take the opportunity to thank the hostesses for all the hard work they did to keep us on track and focused and for organising such a wonderful exchange.

Do we have a date for ISE4 yet?

The scarves exchanged, the people met, the yarns and pattern explored have all given me a new appreciation of the craft and of the people who enjoy it. I have also gained a lot of inspiration for new projects. So, ISE4... here I come the moment it starts!

Today I received this lovely package from Amy.

Oooh. Shiny. What was inside?

The scarf is made from very soft handspun wool from Uruguay. It is long and skinny for wrapping around and around and around and...you get the idea. And Amy thoughtfully included another skein of the same yarn. Maybe a hat? Or mitts? Or a one-skein felted bowl? So many possibilities.

And a book! The Knitting Answer Book by Margaret Radcliffe. It's great.

As promised, some pictures of the scarf. It is of handspun merino wool, off white. It is GORGEOUS! And oh, so warm! I was so, so happy to receive it! Kristen, it is LOVELY. (Now if this heat wave would just disappear so I can wear it!)

More handspun/hand-dyed yarn! It has these teeny little blue specks in it...it's amazing. I can't wait to work with it. I am thinking Clapotis! I've not knit one yet, but I need something shawl-like to keep me warm at work...and I think that would be just the perfect item!

Also included in the package were some burgundy candles and a package of needle holders...one end is a mitten, one end is a hat! I love them! So did my son, who absconded with them and now I need to hunt him down and get them back! :)

Yeah for my scarf

After getting a wee bit worried, a box arrived late last week - oh boy - there were so many wonderful little parcels in there but the highlight was the beautiful scarf that Rose has knitted me.

It is a georgous olive and made from the most divine yarn I have felt in ages (Malabrigo). I was so thrilled that she had chosen that yarn as I have heard so much about it but can't get it in Australia.

The other things in the parcel were soaps, a stamp set, a hand care kit, some funky stationery, a lovely scented candle, and 2 balls of lily yarn.

Thank you Rose for the amazing scarf and your generosity overwhelms me.

Sorry so long in posting the picture, but I finally got dh outside with the digicam yesterday. I thought that was appropriate, as I wanted to say thank you again on Thanksgiving Day.

I'm warm and toasty, even at -18 degrees F (the high for the day at Biddy Hollow Farm in Two Rivers, Alaska). You can see that the sun was already setting at about 1:45 p.m.

And I'm much, much happier than I might look: dh was taking a lot of time to get everything "just right," which means my smile was a tiny bit faded by the time he did. But I love love love this scarf. I haven't ever had a scarf I was willing to wear more than once or twice, but I've had this one on every single day since I received it.

Thanks again, Pennie, for helping me stay warm. Thanks also to my knittee, Michelle-Nicholle, for giving me an opportunity to knit something I otherwise wouldn't have. Thanks to everyone else who knit so beautifully and posted pix of gorgeousness, adding many years' worth of work to my list of "I wanna knits." And thanks especially to our amazing hostesses for herding this bunch of cats.

ISE3 was one of the highlights of my year.

I mailed my scarf to my pal on Monday...hopefully she'll be getting it soon. I can't wait to hear her reaction! It was my first time using a chart, and with just a couple of tinking experiences, I did okay!! I hope that it suits her.

I haven't received my scarf yet, although my pal says it's on its way. I know it's coming from overseas...so I can't wait to see what the mailman brings me!!

I finally got the pictures downloaded from my camera, so I can also show off the great scarves that Deborah sent to me. Here they are showing off their beatiful colors and patterning, and here is where my Bear decided that they both coordinated beautifully with his fur and should be modeled!
And finally, here is the great skein of gorgeous blue and purlple hand-spun yarn that Deborah included! The picture doesn't do it justice, nor does it really show how soft and lustrous it is! My sea sweet scarf

Just a note to thank Emma for the beautiful scarf that arrived here in Maine on Friday. I didn't have any clue as to what she might craft me, but it is the perfect scarf for this lucky woman. She decided to go with my "backyard view" - and as we live on our sailboat, the scarf is sweet, light, and frothy - the colour of the sea when she is at play, and the beautiful bead work on the bottom is like the glints of sunshine (or moonshine) that I have seen so often, as we glide along the Atlantic.

I can't wait to wear it to work tomorrow. I will try to send along a picture (as soon as I find the digi camera). We are over wintering on the sailboat, and are in the midst of turning her from a sailing craft into a 35 foot "one bedroom apartment".

Again, thank you Emma, down under.....you made this a wonderful experience for me. And thank you too, to my dear scarf receiver, Katja --- I hope I get to meet both of you, someday. Stay in touch, please.

Scarf Arrived!

I received my lovely scarf from Judy in Australia! It came while I was away on vacation, but my brother-in-law, who was house-sitting for us, told me it came. So, I had something to look forward to after the long flight ;)

I said that I would post a picture of my lovely, lovely scarf from Sonia, and I haven't done it yet!

So, without further ado, and as an addendum to this post, please feast your eyes upon this beautiful Claudia's Handpainted (colorway: Blue Fields) scarf.

Yes, I know it's not a great picture, but this is the best I could do with the combination of late nights, fluorescent lighting in my cubicle and finicky camera. Rest assured that the colors are more vivid, the yarn is soft and squishy, and the pattern is one that I have ogled on this site quite a few times during the exchange.

P.S. Sonia especially deserves kudos because during the knitting period for the exchange, the woman gave birth and still got this scarf out. A-MAY-zing! ;)

International Scarf Exchange

The exchange is ending, and I'd like to say thank you to our fantastic hostesses - I hope that someone can fill your shoes. I thoroughly enjoyed watching scarves being made and exchanged, and was completely inspired by some of the creations! I also had a ton of fun creating a special scarf (actually two scarves!) for my pal, and I hope that she wears them in good health.

I have finally received my scarf from my secret pal, but I will not post a photo. She did not post a photo on her blog either - you see, I don't think her heart was in this exchange. I leave this experience with a huge disappointment. I won't go into the details, but offer these suggestions for future exchangers - I know there are "rules", but sometimes folks need the "spirit" explained to them.
1. Do not sign up for this exchange unless you want to give of yourself. The giving is the most important part, not the getting.
2. Do not tease your pal with stories of how you knit lace and handspin your own yarn if you are not going to follow through. It's a huge disappointment when they receive their package late (assuming it is such an intricate project that it is taking longer than expected), only to receive a plain knit scarf made from a ball of yarn from a craft store.
3. When you're knitting for a knitter, you should be proud of your work. It can be plain if that is your skill level, but the work should be free of glaring defects.
4. Do not offer to send the scarf that was made for you - your secret pal put their heart and soul into creating it especially for you. That scarf means nothing to anyone but you and your secret pal.
5. When mailing, use appropriate packaging. A box or padded envelope designed for weight is best. A flimsy envelope meant for mailing a letter will not make it through international mail.
6. Include a note with your package! Remember, this is not just about exchanging a scarf but about making new friends.

Some of you may ask why I am even writing this, since I believe the most important part is the giving. Well, because it is human nature to expect that your efforts will be rewarded. I thoroughly enjoyed creating a scarf for someone I had never met, so that in itself makes this exchange worth it. Unfortunately, I didn't get the complete package that some of you were able to experience.

Am I bitter? No. Am I disappointed? Yes. I think I'll go knit myself a scarf now. Knitting always makes everything better.

Bou is perky because this morning we received a lovely scarf in the mail. It's from Kim in NJ and it is made from the softest, silkiest yarn in soft green, blue and purple shades. I don't know what the yarn is but the pattern looks very much like Dayflower?

The little knitting post-it-notes and the collection of exotic teas just adds to the delight.

I hope that everyone participating in the exchange has had fun. Celia and I want to thank those of you who posted on time, sent scarves out on time, and those who have kept in contact with us if the first two weren't possible. :) We do understand that life gets in the way sometimes.

However, we do need to finish up this exchange and tidy up loose ends. If you have not gotten a scarf, or haven't gotten a scarf AND haven't heard from your pal that it would be late, then you need to NOTIFY YOUR HOSTESS NOW. I have contacted my tribe, and I know Celia has as well, but we just simply can not chase down scarves forever. If we do not know that you have not recieved a scarf or that you haven't heard from your pal... how are we supposed to intercede on your behalf? If we do not hear from you by the date specified in our emails (Nov 22nd for my tribe, Nov 19th for Celia's tribe) then we may not be able to help you chase down your scarf.

Celia and I never dreamed that the ISE would become such a huge success... with so much interest. In the first exchange, we had just around 30 participants. Then, in the second exchange, around 100. This time? Over 225 people! We have had a blast during each exchange, but our lives have simply become too complicated/overwhelming for us to devote the time and care that is involved in running an exchange of this magnitude (even with excellent help from people like Iris and Sharon!).

So. We are asking those of you that are interested in hosting the exchange to email the hostess account HERE and let us know. We'll draw names from a hat and pass the baton on to you. What you do with the future rounds of ISE will be up to you! (and whomever you decide to recruit to help)

Marachino has arrived!!!

I had my 10 year old daughter check the mail this afternoon and she came in with a box that I knew had to be my Scarf Exchange package. I set it aside to help her get started on her homework, sort the mail, and get everyone afterschool snacks. Finally, after everyone was settled, I could retreat to my bedroom and open my package.

Three wrapped packages were inside the bigger box that were opened to reveal four beautiful silver stitch markers with pink enameled beads that will be so useful. I've never had such pretty stitch markers before. Next, a skein of Sunshine Yarns Handpainted by Dani sock yarn in the Neapolitan colorway. This colorway is a nice blend of pinks, from light to a dark maroon color. Gorgeous!

Last but certainly not least as I saved the best for last, was my wonderful scarf. Leisel, my partner, has obviously worked so hard on this beautiful cabled scarf that's been named Marachino as it reminds me of the color of Marachino Cherries.

Leisel designed this scarf herself by working with a stitch design from Stitchionary 2. It's gorgeous and intricate with cabling on every right side row. Absolutely perfect!!! Check it out on Leisel's blog.

Thank you Leisel for all your hard work. The scarf will be treasured and my neck will be both toasty and fashionable this winter.

My beautiful scarf

I could have sworn I already posted about my fabulous scarf, but I must have been dreaming. (Being wrapped in luciousness can do that to a person!) I received my wonderful scarf, knit for me by Amber, and I have already put it to good use, as it's finally starting to get cold here in Sacramento. It's such a perfect blend of blues, and it's butter-soft. The yarn is light as a feather, but the scarf is oh-so-warm. It's very long, just as I like my scarves. In fact, it's so long I had to fold it in half so I could arrange it for a photo. Isn't it pretty?? Thanks, Amber!!

My apologies up front for those of you who have thoughtfully followed the guidelines of this exchange..this does not pertain to you.
I have noticed several posts about people not acknowledging their receipt of their scarves from their pals. (me included). Not only is this against the "rules" of this exchange, but it is very rude. Lots of time, effort and funds went into each and every one of these scarves and it is just so ungracious not to take two minutes to thank your pal.
You don't need to post pictures or even post a long dissertation about the gifts you have received...just let your pal know you got it and for pete's sake, say thank you.
What is strange to me is that the people that have not posted are bound to be people that created and sent a scarf to someone else. All of us should know how much we wait to hear if our receipients liked their gifts.
Thanks for letting me vent. Despite the bad taste in the end, this has been fun and I will do it again. I have even made email friends with Judy who knit the same scarf as me for her pal. (who said thank you!).

Look at this WONDERFUL scarf that I received today! My ISE pal was Bonnie and I absolutely LOVE my scarf! It is knit from an alpaca blend, and the pattern is called Aran Cashmere Scarf. I don't think I'll be taking it off for a while! Not only did Bonnie send me this wonderful scarf, she sent me treats too! Some yummy cookies, yummy hot chocolate mix and some beautiful alpaca yarn she got at a B&B she stayed at. Thanks so much Bonnie!

Woohoo! My Scarf Is Here!

Sadly, I do not yet have pictures. I got home very late from work last night (around 11pm) and now it is overcast and cold, so no pictures yet. But I will get one of the girls at my knitting group tonight to take a picture or two for me.

The down-low until the pics are posted: made from Claudia's Handpainted Yarn (which I've coveted online and not seen in person until now!) in a gorgeous colorway called Blue Fields. It has varying shades of blue from pale sky blue to denim to an almost smoky deep blue. These different colors are interwoven with a lime-ish green (love that!), some olive, a little bit of gold, and a deeper gold with a hint of brown to it.

I don't know what the pattern is called but I've seen it on this blog and wanted it. And now I have my very own.

Well, finally (!!), I have gotten the scarf finished, blocked, dried (why am I never prepared for how long that takes?!?), and in the mail. As in actually mailed. Not just carried around in my car for a week at a time, but actually put into the handy mailer that the post office sells you (along with a few other knitterly goodies) and delivered into the hands of the friendly neighborhood postal employees themselves. Actually, well and truly mailed!

You can't see it, but I'm sighing heavily with relief right now, though not as much relief as when I hear from my pal across the great, wide sea (and at least one great, wide continent) that she has received the package safe and sound.

So if you are a pal not in the US (where I am) and you are still missing your scarf, you may find a package in your mailbox next week (the estimate from the aforementioned friendly neighborhood postal employees).

I did take pics, and I'm hoping to get them posted tomorrow.

I received my wonderful purpleybluey scarf last week, and I LOVE IT. I haven't had a chance to take pictures yet, since my camera has gone missing, but I promise once I find it, I will post the amazing package I got from Canada. :)

I received my scarf and goodies in yesterday's post from my secret pal, Jae. And here it is in all it's Berroco Ultra Alpaca gorgeousness. The colourway is Blueberry and the pattern is an original by Jae.

Look What The Mail Brought

I knew that my scarf was due to arrive any day now. Corrie had emailed me to let me know. I have spent most everyday rushing to the mail box as soon as the postal carrier had driven past.

Yesterday I did a dance all the way from my mailbox to my front door. It was here!

I bet there are days that he is scared of me.

It is beautiful, soft, light, airy, and a perfect color! That is just the bonus, she had me with the lace. It is Corrie's first lace project and she told me how she had struggled with it. You would never know. It's knitted and blocked wonderfully.

Corrie also sent along a few extras with the scarf. Rich dark chocolate, a knitting magazine that is unavailable in my area, a cookie cutter for the upcoming holidays, lip gloss, and extra yarn.

It is incredibly generous and thoughtful. I love it! You have been a wonderful swap partner and have made this exchange a real joy. Thank you so much, Corrie!

Thankyou Whitney from Georgia for the great scarf and other goodies. I am sorry that I don't have a photo, but I recieved a terrific ribbed blue manos wool scarf. It should be nice and warm for our Connecticut weather. Bou is a bit sad - he's been waiting for the last three weeks to hear from the person his scarf was sent to.

Apparently the scarf has been received but no comment has been made about it, neither by email nor on the recipient's blog nor this one.

Being an unassuming little rat he has a tendency to think the worst so he hasn't been doing much knitting lately. Maybe when he gets the scarf that's coming to him (and which he has heard about) he will perk up a bit.

So if there are any Scarf Exchangers out there who haven't posted about their scarves yet, either received or sent out, please post now; it will make Bou and Scarf Exchangers like him very, very happy.

It came!!!!! I was having a rough day at work on Tuesday and really need the pick-me up that was waiting for me in the kitchen. My scarf from my pal had arrived!!!!! I opened the box and was greated with an array of surprises. The incredible entralec scarf was tucked into a beautiful Latern Moon sock bag. The bag is perfect for me to stick my current sock project into it AND it is thin enough to place inside my purse! I no longer have keys tangles up with my yarn! Thank you, Skylar! Plus, Skylar put yummy chocolates and caramel cookies and gum and Jelly Bellys in the package. She also gave me Mint Hot Chocolate. Yummmmm! The hot chocolate matches the scarf which reminds me of mint chocolate chip ice cream. The colors are beautiful and look completely fabulous with my coats and jackets. She did an awesome job with the knitting and DH was very impressed. I love the picture on her blog of the scarf and does look good unblocked. The diamonds are puffier and make the scarf look fun. Thank you, thank you, thank you again. I love all the treats and the scarf is perfect!

I received this gorgeous red scarf from Judi. The pattern is beautiful the yarn (wool silk blend) feels wonderful and the coulour is so me! I love it!

And it arrived right on time to keep me warm - winter arrived here last week as you can se from the picture...

And I didn't only get a scarf, but also chocolate, an adornment (perfect as a bookmark in knitting books) aromatherapy bath salt and info on how and where the scarf has travelled. And a wonderful long hand written letter!

So after failing an exam and working til 10 PM I walked into my apartment building and there was no box. I was crushed because Barbara said it should be here today. Then I got up the four flights of stairs, opened my apartment door walked down the hallway and right on the futon was a box addressed to ME!!! My awesome roommate brought it up for me so that it wouldn't disappear in our college dormness. In it was a scarf. That isn't all! Then there was chocolate, cuticle cream, a magazine and best of all... a teeny tiny itty bitty sweater! I laughed so hard! It made me feel so much better.
The scarf is delicious and everyone in my family thinks it is SO ME!

Another Beauty

My scarf made its way all the way from the UK, and it couldn't be better. The yarn is scrumptious, the color is a rich copper, it's the perfect length for me and it's covered in cables. Amanda not only knit this scarf, but she designed it as well. I'm going to love wrapping up in this come winter. It's so soft, and is wide enough at the ends to really snuggle down into. No icy winds for me!

The other things you see tucked in the box are some delicious chocolates and some tea in great reusable tins. She also included some catnip tea for my cats. Now we can all keep the chill away!

I got my package from Lynnette in San Jose! She sent me the gorgeous scarf in this brown, olive, purple color way that I seriously love. Is this the Vintage Velvet pattern from Scarf Style? If so, that is too funny because I just made one of these for the Red Scarf Project. She also included some of her favorite tea and "local chocolate" I don't want to even think about how large I would be if Ghirrardelli was local. Yum.
Tragically, the weather here took a turn for the warmer but it's Indiana - it'll probably get cold next week again so I can wear this scarf :)

A little bundle of joy

G'day all!

My scarf arrived almost exactly a week ago. I have been busy but that is no excuse for not blogging it here and not just on my blog.

It is a very pretty, soft, dainty scarf - less than a handwidth wide and just over a metre long - in dark bluey greeny sea colours (which I like :-). It came with a bar of green tea soap, made in Australia (lol) and a Lantern Moon needle holder. Cool, huh? It came from Knittingirl, who has a little surprise on the way for herself I see - congrats and thanks, Knittingirl!

It is almost cold enough for a scarf here at present too - after hot weather it has gone back to being typical Melbourne Spring weather....

Barb emailed me today to say that my scarf is in the mail! I can not wait. It is definitely scarf time and I want the new scarf! On a grey, rainy day when a doctor's appointment I've waited 10 months for got postponed, I came home today to my parcel from my giftee. Inside was a lovely scarf, candies, postcards and a lovely letter telling me about herself. I am so delighted! Thank you so very much Angie.

In the picture, the colors aren't very true but it does show how well the scarf goes with the sweater I was wearing today.

The dark colors are exactly the same. (Funny how the grey of the sweater front is one color below the scarf and another above it!) More thanks and details on my blog.

Midwest Moonlight is headed to Boston

My scarf is finished and on the way to my pal in Boston. I knit a pattern called Midwest Moonlight from Scarf Style in Knit Picks Elegance (70% baby alpaca and 30% silk) in a shade called Cornflower. I was getting a little worried about the postal service and what happened to my scarf but yesterday it arrived. Bev made me a lovely, lovely, very drapey, cabled scarf in just the most lucious colour. Perfect for me, especially when I think of my back to work wardrobe. I can liven up a navy pant suit with a bright scarf like that and it will be wonderful. Thanks Bev.

I have not yet received my scarf and I haven't heard from my knitter in many days. While I am still excited and eager to receive it, this exchange has nonetheless been a true joy for me. It is the first knitting exchange I have been involved in and it as been so much fun to watch everyone's progress. The talent and the kindness and the generosity represented here are amazing. I was blessed to be able to knit a scarf for Kim and even more blessed to have had the opportunity to build a friendship with her. Thank you so much to the hostesses - I'm sure it has been quite a task keeping all of us in line and on track! I will definitely sign up for another exchange!

For now, I will be over here waiting patiently and quietly for my scarf to arrive.

I received my scarf today. It was so exciting to come home and see the box on my porch. I took the package inside and calmly opened it so I wouldn't possibly cut the scarf while trying to get the tape off the box. Lyndsey-Jane wanted to make sure nothing fell out on the box's trip from the UK to the US. My scarf is a lace scarf made of 100% alpaca in a lovely purple (my favorite color) with red and blue highlights. There were also two boxes of chocolates in there. And I love chocolate.

Hooray my scarf is here! My pal Courtney made me a lovely soft purple cabled scarf. Love the cables. It's just in time too, because it may get down below freezing tonight here in the city. Brrr!

But that's not all. She also a load other fun and useful things:

The final tally of all the loot (in addition to the lovely scarf): 2 vials of soothing bath confetti, a cute sheep pin, a cute heart magnet, some little rubber band stitch markers (which I have already broken out!), a stitch counter (always useful in my book!), some lovely VS lotion (to sooth my knit weary hands), and my favorite of the bunch, a Lantern Moon tape measure. A super cute bee Lantern Moon tape measure. I have been wanting one of these animal tape measures for such a long time, and now I have one!

Sunday Bloody Sunday!!!

Actually, I got my scarf on Friday, but couldn't do justice to the post until today.
I was SO excited to come home from school to see that I had a package waiting for me at the post office. And I knew it was my scarf b/c the FROM box was filled in with "FOREIGN"

Inside, the box was jam packed with goodies! First, the lovely scarf.

But wait! there's MORE!

Sandra also included some google eyed stickers and some beautiful buttons (I already know a perfect project that would look stunning with these buttons)!!! THEN, she also sent more yarn!

Thank you Sandra for the lovely package! It was definitely worth the wait, and as most of you know, I'm not very good at waiting. I've had a lovely time with this exchange so far... and hope that everyone has enjoyed themselves!

EDIT: Title has to do with the color of the scarf. :) it's a beautiful deep orange-red, or deep coral color.

Thank you so much Margaret for the wonderful package that arrived on my doorstep this week. The arrowhead shawl is so gorgeous, I wore it to school yesterday- plenty of compliments were received. Everyone should also note from the picture that extra goodies abounded:
1. 2 skeins of handspun kid mohair from Margarets hands! (Bright orange, and absolutely perfect! I think my first shawl is calling my name!)
2. Floating candles so cute, that I initially thought they were handpainted chocolates.
3. A lipstick and nail polish, both very nice colors.
4. The absolute picture of thoughtfulness, Margaret sent some little Mickey Mouse washclothes for my two boys- what an angel!

Oh, sorry... Was just enjoying this heavenly soft yummy warm gorgeous scarf from Pennie. Great huge sighs of bliss and relief!

I'll post a pic tomorrow when I'm more presentable, but I'll probably wear this thing all night long while I'm working at my bench for tomorrow's holiday bazaar, and I know I'll wear it to the bazaar. This is the first time I've been warm all day long.

Seriously... it feels like Tuesday. I can't imagine what happened to the rest of the week. Other than being particularly awful (I'm having issues with the kids' school), I honestly don't know where all those days disappeared to. I told my pal I thought I'd be able to post about my package by Monday (it came last Wednesday), and I've let her down. I'm so sorry Nickie!

I don't know what's going on with my camera, but it's making the yarn look more saturated than it is. It's a little more pastel in real life. The colors remind me of a watercolor painting :)

Babette was my wonderful spoiler and I receive her package two days ago and let me tell you, it is one of the best and biggest package I have ever received!! It has so many goodies in it and I was practically dancing around and laughing too as I was over the moon!!! There's a Irish Hiking Scarf knitted in Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran and also 3 balls of that yarn for me, so that I can knit a matching hat (how thoughtful is that?), another lovely everyday scarf (I received not one but TWO SCARVES), 5 balls of Knit Picks Shine Worsted (Knit Picks doesn't shipped to Aussie so these are definitely very precious to me) and lastly, yummy treats for my furry babies too!!!

Aack!

No, I didn't receive a notice that my scarf is here... I've been waiting (mostly) patiently.

Unfortunately, I live sort of in the middle of nowhere, and the post office is a tiny little thing where mistakes are made. To top it off, they actually moved into a different building on the night of October 31, so I'm sure it was chaos.

I will call them at 2 p.m. when they open (if they have the same phone number) and will send my husband down there on his way home from work to help look if he has to...

The yarn is so lovely and the scarf so me. You did a fantastic knitting job and thank you for the sweet smelling goodies and the cool notepads.

Finally after trying and trying and trying I have managed to get pictures of the beautiful scarf that Lolly made just for me. It's the My So-Called Scarf pattern in Malabrigo and it is fabulous. I took it to my LYS and they loved it. I think they were, well, green with envy. She made me a pretty little origami crane and sent me the rest of the Malabrigo to play with too.

It couldn't have come at a better time. It is so warm and I've worn it nearly everyday since I got it.

Thank you so much to the hostesses for all the hard work you have put into this exchange. It was a blast. Now, I just hope my pal gets her package soon. Anyday now.

My package actually arrived on time - Wednesday afternoon, unfortunately I have not had time to post.

It can be redelivered or picked up at the Post Office. If the item is unclaimed, it will be returned to the sender. Information, if available, is updated every evening. Please check again later.

What is horrible is the following: 1. zip is 99719 and USPS has 99716. So, I'm hoping its in Two Rivers Alaska and that my pal has picked it up. Please, please let me know ASAP. Pennie

Elaine, my lovely secret pal I am so sorry its taken me a week to post!!! its not that I don't love it (I do) I've just had my lovely keira full time while hubby has been working 24/7! finally the big audit is over and he's all mine again.
Wow here is the gorgeous scarf in my favourite...debbie bliss... how did you know!!!!!!! then there is the bib (love it), cinnamon for my cooking (how did you get that through customs!), soap (mmm love natural organic things), notepad ( I need it for my busy life) and some sugar n cream that I love and can't buy here!
woweeeeeeee I'm so lucky!!!!!!!!!! I was thinking this scarf swap was too hard and I wouldn't do it again but after receiving this lovely gift I'm signing up for the next one!
